Golden Isles Speedway Is A Racing Bargain

This coming weekend, a lot of racing action is  planned at Golden Isles Speedway in Waynesville, Georgia.  GIS Late Models, Super Street, Hobby Stock, and E-mods will all be racing. Also, Powder Puff and Spectator Racing is on the schedule.

As these tough economic times continue, Golden Isles Speedway has taken a fan-friendly marketing stance to help ease the pain a little bit. Entry for children 12 and under free and anyone else can gain admission to the grandstands for just $8. Click on their links for more prices and information.

Cochran Speedway Announces Opening Date, Practice

RACING BEGINS SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH, 2013!!!!!!!!

Track improvements continue to progress! The dirt is in place on the track, and renovations to track lighting
and bleachers continue.
  
Tentatively Cochran Motor Speedway will have a practice session Saturday evening, March 30th, 2013. This practice session will begin at 6:30 PM and will last until 10:30 PM.

Season Opener at Needmore

 

 

 

    This weekend will kick off the opening weekend for the new racing season at Needmore Speedway. Friday night will be the unofficial start since practice will begin to get ready for Saturday night. Saturday will be the official start with drivers sitting with itchy palms ready to sling it sideways on the track and fans ready to catch the excitement by being a part of a who knows what can happen next kind of night. At Needmore there's never any telling what can happen from one moment to the next with something new and exciting happening at every corner and every bump and run.

The State of Short Track Racing

  Last night at Waycross Motor Speedway I had a conversation with popular local driver Cecil Eunice about the state of local short track racing and he had many thoughts that were in line with my own. As a woman it can be, at times, a challenge to get the male species at a track to take you seriously and your intellect serious but I appreciate a driver who can swap different ideas, theories, and views with me while exchanging my own with them. The extent of the conversation was too long to post in this article but what the heart of it was that the current economic climate of our country is what has a tight grip on everything we do.

Southern Super Series Launches New Website

CONCORD, NC (March 12, 2013) – With the buzz surrounding the inaugural season of the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco, 51 Sports of Concord, North Carolina has developed and launched a new site for the series, located at www.southernsuperseries.com.  Through the new site, racers and fans alike will be able to get the resources they need to anticipate the series’ first race, April 6 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in Tennessee, as well as experience even more features and interactive content throughout the 2013 season.

  Action packed with bumping and rubbing all night. C.J Johnson won the Enduro race that had a little of everything, and the Late Models won by Kelly Walker had a battle for the lead between him and 2012 NLMS Champion Evan Becton that the fans didn't want to see end.Travis Williams fought brake problems all night but still took the checkers in Pure Stock.Alabama's Ray Robbins was king of the Limiteds , and Tyler Summerlin won in the pick-up in Mini Stock.

Cochran Speedway Holds Drivers Meeting, Prepares For New Season

Billy Lyles is the new track manager at Cochran Speedway and he held a meeting on Saturday with the drivers who are expecting to run there this year. Interest appears to be high as the meeting was well attended.  Check out what some of the drivers had to say.

Gordon Park Speedway

Gordon Park Speedway is starting the new racing season off in a big way with the FASTRAK 1st Annual Gordon Park 100.  Deep Dixie Racing staff plans to be on hand to provide coverage. Racing will get underway this evening. The main event tonight will be a Pro Late Model 20-lap race which will be a preliminary to tomorrow night's 60-lap feature.  Below is a chart with information about this event:
