Cochran Speedway Announces Opening Date, Practice

!!!!!  IMPORTANT   ANNOUNCEMENT   !!!!!

RACING BEGINS SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH, 2013!!!!!!!!

Track improvements continue to progress! The dirt is in place on the track, and renovations to track lighting
and bleachers continue.
  
Tentatively Cochran Motor Speedway will have a practice session Saturday evening, March 30th, 2013. This practice session will begin at 6:30 PM and will last until 10:30 PM.

Season Opener at Needmore

 

 

 

    This weekend will kick off the opening weekend for the new racing season at Needmore Speedway. Friday night will be the unofficial start since practice will begin to get ready for Saturday night. Saturday will be the official start with drivers sitting with itchy palms ready to sling it sideways on the track and fans ready to catch the excitement by being a part of a who knows what can happen next kind of night. At Needmore there's never any telling what can happen from one moment to the next with something new and exciting happening at every corner and every bump and run.

The State of Short Track Racing

  Last night at Waycross Motor Speedway I had a conversation with popular local driver Cecil Eunice about the state of local short track racing and he had many thoughts that were in line with my own. As a woman it can be, at times, a challenge to get the male species at a track to take you seriously and your intellect serious but I appreciate a driver who can swap different ideas, theories, and views with me while exchanging my own with them. The extent of the conversation was too long to post in this article but what the heart of it was that the current economic climate of our country is what has a tight grip on everything we do.
