New All Star Stock Car Series Takes On Bullring This Weekend
To say someone has passion for something would mean they have a specific drive to focus on one particular hobby, sport, or generally any one thing. It's a fire in the belly, a deep need for a little taste of the high you get from that all-consuming feeling. What is my passion? Racing. Pure and simple. Many people share this spirit with me and one of those people is Leo Johnson. He has been in racing his entire life starting from when his daddy, Raymond, used to race at tracks in the area. Being a race car driver himself later on down the road kept the love of the sport going and eventually working on the other side of racing with Deep Dixie Racing was a way to give back to his favorite sport and true passion. Now he has taken it a step further and created a racing series known as the All Star Stock Car Racing Series.
Leo wanted to create something for the non late model guys. Some of the best racing in his opinion is in the hobby division. What better way to help his favorite racers out than with a series of their own of which no one in the area has seen before. There's late models series and always has been but never a hobby stock series. These guys work just as hard as a late model driver and deserve the same amount of acknowledgement as anyone else. Leo realizes this and so the idea was born and put into action. Drivers and fans alike loved the idea and with the overwhelming support of the racing community we have started our new season. Our first race will be this Saturday, March 22nd at Albany Motor Speedway. Drivers from 4 states are coming and the competition will not be easy. This is the best of the best and anyone who is ready to prove themselves will be there.
The original first place prize was going to be $1200 but thanks to Southway Industrial Crane, it has been raised to $1500 and each heat winner will get $100 and the hard charger of the night, meaning the guy who advances the most positions during the feature gets $100. Another great thing about this series is that even last place at the minimum, gets paid $100 but for this weekend the last place person will get $150. At the end of this season there will be a race at Waycross Motor Speedway with a $3000 to win the first place prize and the top 8 in points with the series automatically locked into the race. This weekend's race at Albany will be the kickoff for the season and thanks to James Simons and especially John King who have been behind the idea from the beginning we plan to bring all the excitement you can stand. I say we because, well, I'll be there signing in drivers and registering them but as soon as the flag drops I'll have my eyes glued to the race. The All Star Series wouldn't be able to be where we are without Heintz Brothers Performance, Wildcat Race Engines, Albany Motor Speedway, John King, James Simons, Waycross Motor Speedway, and Needmore Speedway. Of course to Leo Johnson, who has tirelessly worked to get this up and running and stressed and worked some more, it wouldn't be a reality without you. If anyone would like to sponsor the series in any way you can give the P.R. Director, that would be me, a phone call. I'll be more than happy to take your money. You can reach me, Carolyn Johnson, at 229-251-4719. Thank you to everyone who has helped and to the drivers and fans that are coming from everywhere and anywhere, we appreciate your support more than you will ever know!
