NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 3 PREVIEW
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
CARTERSVILLE, GA – Point leader Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL will be looking for his second straight NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win and his third straight top two finish this weekend in Week 3 competition. There will be eight NeSmith Chevrolet WRS events on the Week 3 schedule in five different states.
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 competition gets underwaythis Friday night at the 2014 season opener at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. Formerly known as Hattiesburg Motorsports Park, Hattiesburg Speedway begins a new era under new ownership.
Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will highlight Saturday nightNeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 action with the $1,000-to-win 45 Crate Challenge Race. Three tracks will be hosting their first NeSmith Chevrolet WRS events of the 2014 season, and they are 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, and St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA.
NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Week 3 Saturday nightevents will also be held at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL, Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.
Gauldin leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 99 points after the first two weeks of competition with a win and a second-place finish. Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS is second with 96 points after one win and a fifth-place finish. Thomas Lewis of Hamilton, GA has a pair of top five finishes and is third in the standings with 95 points.
Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN has two fourth-place finishes and is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 94 points. Dana Eiland of Salem, AL, Josh Trammell of Hoover, AL, and Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS are tied for the fifth spot with 93 points apiece. Thrash picked his first career Late Model win last week.

Casey Haney of Meridian, MS is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 92 points, and Henry Hanger of Winchester, TN, who took a Week 1 victory, is ninth with 91 points. Brand Lewis of Hamilton, GA rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS standings with 90 points.
Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 28.
The 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.
The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.
