BARBERVILLE, Fla. - Feb. 12, 2013 - Two-dozen sprint car drivers converged on the fastest half-mile track in the country on a warm Tuesday evening for a little practice.

Brad Sweet set the quickest time with a lap of 13.115 seconds in the first of three sets of hot laps on the opening night of the 42^nd annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment at Volusia Speedway Park.

Texan holds off Kyle Bronson, NASCAR heavyweights to earn first ever Gator trophy 

BARBERVILLE, Fla. - Feb. 12, 2013 - Rodney Sanders dominated the opening night of the 42^nd Annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment Tuesday night at Volusia Speedway Park.
"We were pretty good but I think we have to get it a little better, at the end it was kind of fading away," said Sanders, of Happy, Texas. "We went out on soft tires so we could get a start and hopefully stay up front after that. First time ever here it feels good to win one because I know they're tough here. There are a lot of good cars."
Sanders, who earned his fifth victory of 2013, led 19 of the 20 laps. After losing the lead to Bronson on lap 16, Sanders wasted little time moving back to the front. Bronson, of Brandon, Fla., held on to finish second.

NASCAR Racing On Saturday Night Is Just Wrong (All Linked Up)

Here I sit on a Sunday afternoon bored to death.  Why?  Well, to me, there is no good reason.  Usually, on Sunday afternoon I can be watching or at least be listening to a NASCAR race as I complete working on videos or photos I've taken at a local short track.  For the second time this month, that is not the case.  This stinks to high heaven. Why oh why does NASCAR have to race on Saturday night?
