Ellisville Speedway: The Return of Asphalt

Ellisville Speedway is located in Ellisville, Fl. about 10 miles south of Lake City. It's a half mile asphalt race track that had laid dormant until it was leased by Robert Ford Sr. from the owner of New Smyrna Speedway, Robert Heart. It had been closed for most of last season and opened back up in September 2012. This Saturday will be the tenth race since it's reopening. Robert Sr. has a history with the track being a driver at the track in the 90's. He drove a street stock with the number 66. Following in his footsteps, Robert Ford Jr. raced there also until it closed down.

Speedfest 2013 Entries

(Click on the flyer to make it larger.)

The more I look at the entry list of who is coming to the Melon next weekend, the more excited I get.  Lot's of next generation drivers with NASCAR pedigrees are on there and guess who is going to be on hand to sign autographs? That's right, their dads. How often do race fans in South Georgia have the opportunity to interact with some of their heroes like this?  Not very dang often from what I have seen.  Last year was the first time that the Watermelon Capital Speedway hosted Speedfest.  It was a blast and all the fans got to see some exciting racing.  You can expect the same or even better this year. I encourage you to go ahead and get your tickets because they are going fast.  I know you don't want to be the one that somebody comes up to the next day and says "Boy, you should have been there last night!" Check out the information the Melon has posted on their Facebook page:

North Florida Speedway Track Improvements

North Florida Speedway has done alot since the last time Deep Dixie was there. New stands all the way around the track and new track surface will make for better racing and a more comfortable place to watch a race.
NFS will run for three straight weeks starting Jan 25 and 26. Kenny Wallace will make a appearance with his mod on the week of Feb 2. Then Feb 10 you can watch the UMP Super Late Models go at it.
Deep Dixie will have more info soon.
