Needmore Speedway Hosts Hall of Fame Night
Needmore Speedway and the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame, South Georgia Chapter will add a special twist to their regular racing program, Saturday night, July 14th. Several former drivers who raced at Thunderbowl Speedway and I-75 Speedway will be on hand for a special autograph session before the races that night. Several former drivers have been invited to the event including Eddie MacDonald, Louie Radney Jr., Sputter Ragan, Bill O'Neal, Jimmy Murphy, Ed Mansfield, Curtis Morgan, Ed Brown, Rance Phillips, Ronnie Lieupo, Charles Hatch, and Yankee Smith to name a few. In addition to the autograph session, race fans will be treated to a special 15 lap feature for the open wheel modified "Skeeter Cars". Many of the younger race fans have never had the opportunity to see these cars in competition, so be sure to bring the kids.
The mission of the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame Association is the preservation of the history of auto racing in the state of Georgia and is a statewide organization with hundreds of members throughout the Southeast. As a member of GARHOFA, you recieve a hat pin plus quarterly editions of Pioneer Pages magazine that's always full of interesting articles about the people who contributed to the history of stock car racing in Georgia. Each year a group is inducted into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame located in Dawsonville, Georgia. The Hall of Fame is a great place to visit as it's full of racing memorabilia including several race cars donated by former drivers including Bill Elliot. Needmore Speedway is located near Norman Park, Georgia at 1060 John Vickers Road.
