WAYNESVILLE, Ga. (July 6) As the trailer or transporter ramps hit pit area ground at Golden Isles Speedway one thing will be on the mind of all drivers, especially the I-95 Toyota Late Models.
Anyone can win.
To sweeten the pot, GIS will have more than $40,000 up for grabs in the inaugural Chuck Scott Tribute this Friday and Saturday July 8-9.
The I-95 Toyota Late Model Challenge Series has a different winner in each of the four races so far in 2016. Saturday’s w...inner will not only take home $3,000 but could be the fifth different with the checkered flag.
The NeSmith Performance Street Stocks have a little more work to do to stop the B-Dub Express. Brunswick’s Brian Wooten has dominated the class and is the favorite for the $2,000 top prize. Wooten has all the wins, but the margin of victory is shrinking.

The NeSmith Performance Street Stocks have a little more work to do to stop the B-Dub Express. Brunswick’s Brian Wooten has dominated the class and is the favorite for the $2,000 top prize. Wooten has all the wins, but the margin of victory is shrinking.
“This has started out to be one of the best seasons of my career,” Wooten said. “Thank you (car owner) Joey Meyers for giving me this fine piece of equipment.”
Both events double as GIS Super 5 Challenge races.
Mark Whitener and Devin Dixon have GIS I-95 TLMCS wins. Jimmy Sharpe, Jr. and Rhett Carter have victories at other tracks.
It is all Carters at the top of the I-95 TLMCS points. Rhett, again coming to GIS off a win the previous weekend, and Travis are tied for the series lead. The latter is set for a good run. So is Chad Tuten, w“I can say late model racing isn't easy,” Tuten said in a recent Facebook post. “It takes a lot to make it all happen and win a race in this division, not just knowledge about the car, but behind the wheel also.”
The Patterson, Ga. hotshoe has been doing double duty, piloting an EMod as well. He picked up the EMod feature win June 18 at GIS. Next goal is a visit with the Late Model to Victory Lane.
“I look forward to showing up again next week with another page in the notebook and more experience behind the wheel. Hopefully we can complete the package and win the race.”
Late Models will qualify Friday with the six fastest running the White Brothers Auto Parts Warehouse Dash for Cash for $500. The feature will be Saturday evening.
Heat races start the weekend for the NPSS Friday. The B-Main and feature hit the 4/10-mile clay Saturday. The B-Main will pay $1,000 to the winner.
Friday also features EMods, Enduros and Super Streets.
EMods return Saturday and are joined by Limiteds, Enduros and 440s.
The Limiteds will run a GIS Super 5 Challenge with $2,000 to the feature winner.
Hot laps are set for 6 p.m. each evening with racing to follow.
