Recap of the racing at EAMS on Sunday night, 7/3/2016
Submitted by Lamar McClellan
NeSmith Late Models:
1 - #55 Montana Dudley - qualified on the pole with a 15.821 and led all 50 laps in his triumphant return to his home track after being away a couple of weeks.
2 - #23 Cory Hedgecock - qualified 17th, started 11th in the feature and came all the way to 2nd - tremendous run matching his finish at Penton last night.
3 - #33 Scott Dedwylder - started 6th and moved up to 3rd with a good solid run.
4 - #95 Brandon Williams - started 9th and made a strong run up to 4th.
5 - #18E Chase Edge - started 7th and worked into the top 5 after #66K Dylan Knowles was DQ'd from 5th for being light at the scales after the race.
Limited Late Model:
1 - #19 Josh Cox - drew inside pole for his heat, lead every lap of his heat race, and every lap of the feature in dominating fashion.
2 - #14 Lavon Sparks - great job with this car that Jay Elliott has raced for 2 - 3 weeks.
3 - #17 Kevin Bennett - great run from 11th starting position - could have challenged for the win with a start nearer the front after winning at Penton last night.
4 - #42 Jake Traylor - lost a couple of spots from his outside pole starting position - good points night, though, beating all of his competition.
5 - #83 Dusty Jones - nice run in Brandon Trelise Pijnenburg's car.
Hobby:
1 - #44 Corey Dunn - picks up his 2nd win of the season withstanding constant pressure from Randy Renfroe, and moves up to 4th in points.
2 - #99 Randy Renfroe - tried everything short of running over the leader but came up just short with a very strong run after winning at Penton last night.
3 - #17 Jason Price - steadily moved up from his 6th starting spot for a good points run expanding his points lead to 6 points over John Michael Schmear.
4 - #294 John Michael Schmear - looked very strong tonight, but there just wasn't a groove he could use to move up further than 4th.
5 - #9 Chris Storey - after breaking something in his heat and starting the feature in 12th, this was one of his strongest runs of the season - is now tied with Travis Timms for 6th in points.
NeSmith Street Stock:
1 - #24 Jason Price - picks up a win in only his 2nd run at EAMS this season - great job (this is a different Jason Price than the one that runs in Hobby and Limited Late Model).
2 - #36 V.j. McDonald - after trouble early in the feature, he fought back for a very strong 2nd place finish tonight.
3 - #69 Jason Harrison (Sandra Cockrill Harrison) - top finisher of the EAMS regulars in the class and is now tied with Derick Schrecengost for the points lead.
4 - #07 Steve Pate - had all kinds of trouble in the feature but fought back for a solid top 5 finish.
5 - #21 Derick Schrecengost - drove his heart out tonight for this finish - fell back into a tie for 1st in the points.
Road Warrior:
1 - #999 Chandler Diem - finally picks up that 3rd win of the year after a couple of tough weeks - had to work hard for this win.
2 - #1 Michael Hutto - fought hard all race long to get this finish.
3 - #99 Brooks Shelley - best finish of the season.
4 - #17 Brian Bo Robinson - finished 2nd on the track but penalized 2 positions for jumping the final restart - probably his best race of the year, discounting the penalty....
5 - #K9 Trey Fountain - top 5 in his first ever Road Warrior event after running 4 Hot Shot races leading up to this week.
Hot Shots:
1 - #6 Jackson Thomason - picks up the Summer Sizzler Event win in this car's first time out - had to battle the entire race for this win.
2 - #28 Lee Hutchinson - in only his 2nd race at EAMS - great job.
3 - #21 Chrishobo Bosley - after winning 4 of the last 5 races, couldn't quite get to the front this time for the big money.
4 - #1 ???? - anybody know who this driver was? Don't have the name - good finish.
5 - #25 Herbie Donath - 1st time in this car that he built - nice job, though just not quite enough motor???
No racing next week at EAMS, but we'll see you the week after!!
