Spencer Hughes
Cartersville, GA – With Week 23 of the NeSmith Street Stock season over, 15-year old Spencer Hughes has achieved perfection by picking up the win at Magnolia Motor Speedway on Saturday night. He now has the 700 points that are eligible if a driver wins 14 weeks in the season. However, the points chase has tightened a bit and it is not quite over. Randy Lovell inched ever closer with another win at Battleground Speedway, and Steve Pate went back-to-back in victory lane with wins on Friday at East Alabama Motor Speedway and Saturday at Talladega Short Track.
Headlines from Week 23:
• Week 24 will see everyone focus on where the top 5 in points head to compete. With the points as tight as they are among them, each will be looking to win which will allow them to gain what few precious points are still available. In the event of a tie in the points, wins will determine the tie-breaker. That means that Hughes, Lovell, and Pate are all seeking to win as often as possible should it come down to that!
• Randy Lovell picked up the win at Battleground Speedway on Saturday.
• Tyler Turvin grabbed his first NeSmith Street Stock win at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA.
• Rookie driver Hayden Moran was victorious in action at LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA.
• Larry Faulk visited victory lane at Flomaton Speedway.
• Trevor Woodard grabbed yet another victory at his home track Thunderhill Speedway Park in Summertown, TN.
• Jeff Butler took home the checkered flag with a win at Jackson Motor Speedway.
• Stuart Wilson bested a strong field to claim the win at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.
Full feature finishes are posted just below the Top 20 in the Point Standings through August 28th, 2016.
