Wild Wrecks Steal The Show At Senoia Raceway

(Senoia, GA – June 10, 2017)   Under a full moon at the ‘South’s Baddest Bull Ring’, Senoia Raceway, a pair of wild roll-over accidents stole the spotlight.  Newnan’s Corey Payton rode up the front stretch wall at the on-set of the Limited Late Model feature which sent him tumbling several times down the front stretch before coming to rest on top of the turn one retaining wall.  The next race saw a similar crash with Atlanta’s Kyle Cochran getting upside down during the Crate Late Model main event.  Both drivers were not injured, but the wild wrecks stole the show from those winning on a wild night at the tough 3/8ths mile speedway.

‘Cat Daddy’ Clint Smith of Senoia was again victorious in the Super Late Model feature while Brooks’ ‘Magic’ Matt Dooley picked up the win in Limited Late Model competition.  Tyrone’s Jody Knowles picked up the checkered flag for the Crate Late Models, Locust Grove’s Billy Stevenson the Late Model Sportsman and Mableton’s Ryan Ray the Hobby Stocks.  Mark ‘Mad Dog’ Newton continued his dominance of the Mini Stocks while Alabama’s Dunie Dillard won again in the Bombers.  The Hot Shot Gumboree went to Alabama’s Dean Williams after the first two finishers were disqualified in post race tech.

EAMS Late Model - 25 Laps:
1 - #1D Dalton Cook - picks up his 3rd win in a row in a points race at EAMS - led from green to checkers.
2 - #5 Thomas Lewis - started 4th and had a spirited battle early with #110 Rick Culpepper, finally securing 2nd.
3 - #110 Rick Culpepper - solid run using the high line early to compete for 2nd, finally relenting and settling into 3rd.
4 - #5B Brand Lewis - had issues in qualifying, but recovered for a nice top 5.
5 - #54 Tim Dixon - landed his 5th consecutive top 5 finish.
(Note - points leader #K9 Dana Eiland had a rare DNF, but maintains a 28 point lead over Culpepper)

Inaugural Outlaws "Clanton Classic" Feature Goes To Sheppard

(Senoia, GA – June 4, 2017)   The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series took the track at Senoia Raceway for the first time ever for the third annual Billy Clanton Classic.  Despite this race being many of the drivers first time on the unique gray gumbo surface, everyone seemed to enjoy how racy the track was all night long.  It was ultimately Illinois’ Brandon Sheppard who was able to hold off the field to land his fifth Series win of the season.

During hot laps last night the skies unloaded on EAMS resulting in an almost 3 hour delay while track officials waited out the ran and then got the track back in shape for racing.  Here is a recap of the racing events of the evening:

602 Late Model Sportsman - 25 Laps - $1,000 to Win:
#50 Steven Gaines started on the pole with a 17.26, but broke a rear-end in turn 3 of the 1st lap and finishing last.
1 - #21 Ricky Culpepper - started 4th and was up to 2nd by lap 8.  From that point he dogged #01 Blant Duke for the lead until powering by on the high side on lap 13.  After Duke saw the groove Culpepper was running he challenged him, but could never get back ahead.
2 - #01 Blant Duke - made a rare appearance at EAMS and appeared to be well on the way to victory until the high line came in for Culpepper mid way in the race.  Had Duke seen that the top was working for Ricky he could have moved up and the race would have been his.
3 - #05 Blaise Rutherford - started 15th, was immediately in the top 10, 5th by lap 10, and 3rd by lap 12 where he ran the remainder of the race.
4 - #17 Jason Price - started 10th and was in and out of trouble all race long, but survived for a top 5 finish.
5 - #1 Brandon McDaniel - started outside pole but slid off the topside of the track entering turn 3 on lap 3 and spent the remainder of the race recovering from that early miscue.
9th place finishing #8G Bubba Gorman expanded his points lead over #14 Dustin Ducker.

Southern Thunder Late Model Series (40 Laps)
1 - #27T Terrance Nowell - started 8th and took his 604 crate engine steadily to the front and never looked back.
2 - #5T Thomas Lewis started 14th and found his groove early and followed Terrance to the front.
3 - #4J Jeremy Faircloth - started 9th and ran a smooth race.
4 - #27 Larry Harrod - started 12th and battled his way to a top 5.
5 - #27G Garrett Loyd - started from the pole.
Check it out, 3 "#27" cars in the top 5...
There was no shortage of passing as you can see from where these 5 cars started vs. where they finished - they raced all the way from the bottom to the top in both ends of the track.

602 Late Model Sportsman (15 Laps)
1 - #111 Richie Stephens - started 8th in a rare EAMS appearance this season using the car typically driven by Jackson Thomason.
2 - #17N Nevin Gainey - started 11th and quickly moved to the front.
3 - #8G Bubba Gorman - from the outside pole, competed at the front all race long - expands his points lead over #14 Dustin Ducker.
4 - #D9 Dustin Diem - started 12th and steadily worked his way to the front.
5 - #17M Brandon McDaniel - good run from his 6th starting position after recently spending some time in the hospital - welcome back!
