Southern Super Series Launches New Website

Submitted by Sheena Elliott

CONCORD, NC (March 12, 2013) – With the buzz surrounding the inaugural season of the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco, 51 Sports of Concord, North Carolina has developed and launched a new site for the series, located at www.southernsuperseries.com.  Through the new site, racers and fans alike will be able to get the resources they need to anticipate the series’ first race, April 6 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in Tennessee, as well as experience even more features and interactive content throughout the 2013 season.

“We are proud to partner with the Southern Super Series and launch their new website,” said Matt Kentfield, Executive Director of 51 Sports, the parent company of leading short track racing news website Speed51.com.  “From the time the series was announced late last year, the SSS has been one of the most talked-about topics in short track racing.  The website has been a creative project that all of us at 51 are proud of.  It has been a pleasure working with all of the track operators involved with the Southern Super Series during its development.

“As the season continues, the site will only gain a bunch of new and fun features for fans and racers to enjoy, while also being a front-door to all of Speed51.com’s live Trackside Now coverage of each Southern Super Series race in 2013.”

The launch of the Southern Super Series website coincides with the release of the preliminary entry list for the first-ever SSS race on April 6 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.  Included on the roster are Snowball Derby winner Augie Grill, multiple-time Super Late Model winner and champion Jeff Choquette, Maine rising star Austin Theriault, Midwestern Late Model standout Dan Fredrickson and more.  With those names, plus more entries coming in daily, the Southern Super Series’ fields in 2013 will feature some of the most star-studded fields anywhere in the country this season.

“We’re honored to host not just the opening round of the Southern Super Series on April 6, but also the season finale, the All-American 400, at the end of the year,” said Tony Formosa of Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.  “With all the electricity surrounding the Southern Super Series and this historic racetrack, it can’t be anything but a good combination.  We’ve seen some of the legends of the sport come through the gates here at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville and maybe the next NASCAR legend will be competing in, and maybe even winning, the Southern Super Series’ first race here on April 6.”

“The Southern Super Series has been one of the best things that has happened to short track racing in the Southeast in a long time,” said Dan Elliott, General Manager of Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia, host of three SSS events in 2013.  “The website that 51 has produced, plus their promotion of the series and its events, will only enhance the excitement of the series this year.  We at Gresham Motorsports Park are honored to be a part of the Southern Super Series this year and I could not have picked a better group of tracks to be involved with.”

Among the many features on the Southern Super Series website is a comprehensive “Tracks” page, which includes links for directions to each of the five facilities on the 2013 schedule, as well as their social media streams.

“Something that has become a must in today's world is a strong internet presence and the staff at 51 Sports and Speed51.com has done a great job with this new website design that not only looks great, but will be informative for the fans, teams, and sponsors alike,” said Paul Boswell of Montgomery Motor Speedway, which will have three dates on the inaugural season’s schedule.  “I think I can speak for all of us involved with the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco when I say how excited we are about getting this season going.  All of our hard work and dedication to making this series a reality will pay off in a big way for not only the tracks involved, but the fans, sponsors and teams as well.  I personally can't wait for the season to start."
Speed51.com, the nation’s leading asphalt short track racing news website, will be the Official Media Partner of the Southern Super Series and will provide live Trackside Now coverage at each SSS event to provide the series, tracks and its racers added exposure.

“Five Flags Speedway and Mobile International Speedway could not be prouder to be a part of the inaugural season of the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco,” said Tim Bryant, track operator of the facilities that will host a combined eight SSS events in 2013.  “The Series will continue to be a 'work in progress,’ but the pieces are coming together much quicker than anyone anticipated.  One such piece to the puzzle is our alignment with 51 Sports and Speed51.com.  There's no better way to keep racers and fans informed than on 51.  We eagerly await our chance to showcase the best of Super Late Model racing when the SSS visits the Gulf Coast for the first time on May 24 and 25."

Entry forms and further information for the April 6 season-opener at Nashville and others on the 16-race inaugural Southern Super Series schedule can be found on the newly-designed www.southernsuperseries.com

The inaugural Southern Super Series schedule consists of 16 races at five tracks in four states.  In addition to Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville, the series will make multiple stops at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia, Mobile International Speedway in Kinston, Alabama and Montgomery Motor Speedway in Montgomery, Alabama.  The Southern Super Series is also home to two of the most prestigious short track events in the country, the All-American 400 at Nashville and the World Crown 300 at Gresham.
