At the beginning of 2012, a couple of friends, Carolyn and Leo Johnson, and myself got together and started Deep Dixie Racing. All three of us shared a passion for stock car racing and we wanted to do something that would help promote the sport that we love. With advancing technology at our disposal, the way all types of news was being presented to the public was rapidly changing and we didn't want the racing community to get left behind. From the very start, our goal has been to help promote the tracks we are allowed to cover, to spotlight the drivers, and engage the fans. We have sought to accomplish this through the use of video, photos, stories and social media.
The response we have received in just a little over a year shows me that we must be doing something right.
Just last week, the Deep Dixie Racing Facebook Fan page reached over 3,000 "Likes". That doesn't say a whole lot in and of itself because many people visit our site without becoming a member or subscriber. We do have tools that report that information to us, however, and last week we reached a new high. From 5/29/06 through 6/406 alone, we were able to reach 17,867 people.
It appears that people are taking notice as to what we are doing. Our goal is to do even more though, and to do that, we need to enlist the help of others.
Already, we have created a new section called Deep Dixie Racing - Track News where we allow race tracks and/or their representatives to report on happenings or upcoming events at their track. So far, Golden Isles Speedway is the main one making use of this. We want to open it up to others. Track managers and anyone they will approve of can contact us and we will gladly set up a way for them to start providing such content. This is a free service and they can even include promotional material from their sponsors in the posts they provide. Videos, photos, stories, and documents are some of the things that can be included. Please help make the track owners/managers aware of this service if you think they don't already know.
Many of the drivers are placing in-car cameras in their race cars now. If any of you who are doing so and would like for us to spotlight those videos, we would be glad to accommodate you. If you put your video up on Youtube, we can either place a link on our Facebook page or we can place it inside a post with the other videos on our main site or we can do both. Also, on occasion, we may include part of your video in some of the videos we may make. (By the way, Leo does an excellent job at that.) That would be up to you. Just let us know.
A lot of fans also make videos and take photos that they may want to submit to us. More often than not, we would be glad to link to any such videos on our Facebook page and if they are of good enough quality, we may even spotlight them in a post on our main page. Just submit a post of them on the Deep Dixie Racing Facebook page.
Carolyn, Leo, and myself definitely aren't doing this for the money. We do it because we love stock car racing. We do have a few sponsors but that doesn't even begin to cover our expenses. We need more and we do have advertising packages which begin with as little as $300 per year. We do banner ads on our site and we can include up to 30 second commercials on any of the videos. So, if you know of anyone who might benefit from exposure to our audience, please let them know about us.
Click here for my email address or here for Carolyn's email address and here for Leo's we would be glad to hear from you if you have any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions about our coverage.
