LAKE CITY, Fla. (March 25) – Kevin Davis was right where he wanted to be.

Out front.

He became the third leader in three laps and then sped away from the C Class/Limited Late Model field Saturday evening at North Florida Speedway.

He may not have had the best grip of the racing surface with his Davis Golf Carts Snow Brothers chassis, but it was obviously good enough in the 15-laps feature, shortened to 11 laps due to time limit.

“The track was a little sandy,” Davis said. “We were spinning the whole time. It just wasn’t right, but I just want to thank everybody on this car.”

Davis left the rest of the field to survive. Two massive accidents brought out the red flag.

The first was right after the heat race green flag. Lake City’s Jason Kight slammed into the wall entering turn one, became air born, took out the catch fence and pirouetted to a nose down stop on the fence. He was not hurt, but his Snow Brothers chassis was heavily damaged.

The second occurred during the feature when Billy Kervin spun on the back stretch, collected Donnie Padgett and crashed hard into the outside barrier, almost turning over. He also was not injured.

“I don’t know what those guys were doing behind me,” Davis added. “I’m glad I was in front of them and not behind them.”

Senoia Raceway Spring Nationals Recap

(Senoia, GA – March 26, 2017)  Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville passed Brandon Overton while bouncing off a lapped car on the final lap to claim the Saturday night finale of the Senoia Raceway Spring Nationals.  McIntosh used a late race caution and lapped traffic to snatch the lead away from Overton who had wrestled away the lead from McIntosh near the halfway mark.  The victory was McIntosh’s first career victory on the dirt at Senoia Raceway.

“This is awesome,” said an excited McIntosh in victory lane. “You could race anywhere and when I saw TJ (Reaid) check up, I was like oh oh, I am committed and just went for it. Awesome.  Just awesome.”

Outlaws Head to the House of Hook

CONCORD, N.C.—March 14, 2017—The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series is gearing up to head back out on the road for the first time since the conclusion of DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park at the end of February. The first stop in March will be at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Miss. on March 24 and it will be nothing less than an action packed shootout.

In the past, when leaving the February jaunt the points gap has been pretty wide making it a catch up game for the rest of the season for some but this season that is not the case. Only four points separates the first and second position in the championship points standing and only 28 points between first and fifth. That means one race can make it or break it for the point’s leader.

Headed into the Feature at Whynot Motorsports Park, Brandon Sheppard and Rick Eckert will lead the way in the points race. Although we still have  a long way until we reach the World of Outlaws World Finals every race counts towards the end of the season.

“We still have a long way to go until the end of the season but this is the first time in a couple years that we’ve come out of Florida this close in points and we’re in a good of a position,” said Eckert.

Clanton Claims Senoia Raceway Season Opener

(Senoia, GA – March 19, 2017)  Former Craftsman Tools World of Outlaws champion, Shane Clanton of Zebulon, set the fast time Saturday night and then led every lap of the Super Late Model feature race to snag the top honors for opening night of the 2017 racing season at Senoia Raceway.  Clanton held off a great start by Douglasville’s Mason Massey to retain his lead and then never looked posting his sixth career victory at the tough bull ring 3/8ths mile track.  One hundred twenty-two cars packed the pit area to usher in the third season under the promotional direction of Mayes Massey, Bill Massey and Doug Stevens.

EAMS Late Model - 25 Laps:
1 - #K9 Dana Eiland - started 3rd, moved to 2nd on lap 2, and took over the lead from #55 Montana Dudley on lap 16 when Dudley's engine blew.  Undefeated in two races in the regular season in defense of his 2016 Championship.
2 - #13 Bailey Harris - started 8th, moved into the top 5 on lap 13, up to 3rd on the lap 16 restart, and took 2nd on the last lap when #7 Tyler Thomason slipped high off the track coming off turn 2.  Great run, especially considering this is (to my knowledge) his first trip to EAMS.
3 - #14 Patrick Wall - started 5th, up to 4th on lap 9, dropped back to 5th, and then moved up to 3rd on the last lap.
4 - #7 Tyler Thomason - started 4th, ran as low as 6th, was up to 2nd on lap 16 an actually gave a strong challenge for the lead for a couple of laps after the lap 16 restart, then fell back to 4th after running high off turn 2 on the final lap.
5 - #5 Thomas Lewis - started 2nd, appeared to hook a rut in turn 1 on the start, dropped to 3rd on lap 2, lost spots to Harris and Wall late to finish 5th.
