Weekend Outlook: North Florida Speedway

North Florida Speedway, located in Lake City, Florida is a 4/10 mile d-shaped oval that is home to premier racing in north Florida. Fans and drivers know they can always come North Florida Speedway for a special race event or a regular Saturday night and see a night of full-throttle racing. The company NSR Associates owns the track and is owned by Phil and Liz Guadagno. They are the type of owners who are constantly giving back to the drivers and the community. Not working off a salary, they give all money they make to the drivers and back into the track. Phil has been a life long race fan and opened it along with his wife because they were wanting a track that would consistently be there for fans and drivers and have proven that by doing just that.

When the track was first bought it was oil based but over 100 loads of Florida clay was brought in to change the track. More clay has just been brought in to replenish clay the drivers have been taking home with them on their cars and should take about 2 weeks to settle. It might create a little bumpier surface this week but the racing will be excellent. This Saturday night will be a regular Saturday night program featuring late models, E modifieds which are modifieds with a smaller 300 horsepower motor, pure stocks, street stocks, and box stocks which are 4 to 6 cylinder cars. Drivers to watch are Adam Bedenbaugh, who has a knack for driving just about anything you put him in, Ryan and Kyle Vansickle, who have years of experience since starting out in go carts and Georgia's own Jay Johnson who is a consistent top place driver at any track he runs at.
The track has 2, 3,and 4 wide racing on it and I'm ready to see all these drivers slinging mud and drive 4 wide. North Florida Speedway has seen it's share of excitement this year when one particular race saw modified driver Mark Whitener lose his brakes and hit the guardrail and roll a couple of times. The driver thankfully is ok and recovered. It's nothing short of excellent racing and excitement at this track. Special events will be coming up all through the year and fans should keep up with what's going on through the track's website. New improvements are coming their way also in the form of new light poles and grandstands which all goes back to the owners giving back to the track and drivers. It's these kind of tracks that keep people coming back every race and the payout keeps drivers coming back consistently. A track that gives back is more of what we all like to see and what keeps me always interested in what's happening there. North Florida Speedway is located at 287 SE Race Track Ln. Lake City,Florida. Driver's meeting will start at 5:30, hot laps at 6:00 and racing at 7:00. It's looking to be a great weekend!
