Carter Dominates GIS Limiteds Lloyd, Payne, Wooten, Ammons, Bruner, Clark Also Take Checkers

By Rob Lee WAYNESVILLE, Ga. (July 23) – The sigh of relief probably was synonymous with a tire deflating.
One can only imagine that was Ryan Carter’s reaction Saturday evening at Golden Isles Speedway.
Carter swept the Limited Late Model show, topping off the night with a flag-to-flag win in the 25-lap feature. That followed setting quick time amongst the 13 entries.
The high was about shot down on Lap 7 after Carter had paced the initial six laps. The caution flew as Carter sat in Turn 2 180 degrees from the correct direction.

According to track officials, the yellow was tossed for the car of Charlie Davis that stalled attempting to drive into the pit entrance off that same turn.
Carter was awarded his top spot back and he checked out from there.
Cecil Eunice, Adam Collins, Scott Waters and J.O. Nobles rounded out the top five.
Point leader Woodrow Mullis started fifth and was dicing through the field methodically. While battling Eunice for the runner up position on Lap 16 the drivetrain failed skidding Mullis to a stop in Turn 4. He would be scored 11th.
Carter’s fast time of 16.922 was the only lap below 17 seconds.
The B-Dub Express continues to amaze fans and the NeSmith Performance Street Stocks. Brian Wooten started dead last in the 20-lap feature by virtue of winning the last regular points event.
He dug in on the high groove and picked his way to the front and was first to the checkered flag. Brian Grantham, Chris Keller, Kyle Livingood and Shaun Washam were next.
Garrett Lloyd’s terrific season continued with a win in the EMod 15-lap finale. That was not decided until race long leader Nick Kirkus pulled up lame with three circuits left, giving the point to Lloyd, who held off Bud Chancey, Randy Gainey, Jason Garver and Keith Tuten.
Caleb Payne won his first Super Street main of the season. Will Gardener, Chris Keller, Donnie Durrance and Keith Smith followed.
Billy Ammons topped a 23-car Enduro field. The 15-lap feature was halted at Lap 8 due to time limit, but it probably would not have mattered. Ammons took the win over Willard Wallace, John Carlino, Johnny Barker and Brad Kitchen.
Michael Bruner won another 440 10-lap feature with a healthy advantage over Josh Ryan, Olvan Williams, Mack Williams and Joe Quarterman.
The Powder Puffs made their 2016 debut. Taylor Clark wheeled by Hannah Altman about halfway through the 10-lap feature and was first to the checkers. Keller, Stephanie Hall, Taylor Sowell and Brittany Dykes followed.
The Super Challenge 5 Series returns for the GIS Late Models and Enduros Saturday Aug. 6. Late Models will be co-set with the I-95 Toyota Late Model Challenge Series and pay $3,000 to the winner. Enduros run for $1,000 top prize.
EMods, NeSmith Performance Street Stocks, Super Streets and 440s also hit the 4/10-mile red clay.
Hot laps are set for 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
